You will be out of the loop for a large chunk of events, and as you go you will read about some of the events the early volumes cover but with retcons. It is unfortunate but the result will be for the best. Now the key here is to be able to read about Hal Jordan and follow the big moments in his life. Some of these books do not even mention Hal Jordan. But they are included so that you can fully enjoy and understand most of the events that take place. For example, ramifications of Zero Hour will be felt all the way to GL:Rebirth, and will lead to GL:Recharge. Now other than titles, there are no spoilers to be found here.
