So as a reference the first and one of the most important pages you will need is the Glossary.

Up to the section that is alphebetical are the terms you should know just to be able to begin thinking about comics.  Comics aren't like many other mediums.  Comics feature styles and techniques that aren't existent within other media.

And one of the single most frustrating things I find new readers complain about is someone recomended a book that is supposed to be the be-all, end-all graphic novel and they don't understand why. These titles are part of the first part of this series, where I discuss which books are recomended first and all the suplimental material that is required to enjoy them.  This is the chapter of where NOT to start.

From there I offer two appendixies.  The first covers books from the big two(Marvel and DC).  And the second is the indie books.  Indie books are the first line of defense for readers who don't like superheroes, but on top of that they also represent great books that are often the pinacle of comicdom.
